ETAWC has a new website!  Check it out at http://www.etawc33.org

Please check back soon for updates on the negotiation process, school activities, and other news.

West Chicago, we care about the students and need your support to get the negotiations settled.

February 4th, 2013, 7:01 P.M.  Thank you! Thank You! Thank You!

It was heartwarming to see the tremendous community support as we struggle through this difficult situation.

We are encouraged by this outpouring. Many brought warm beverages and hot food to teachers, opened their homes, and offered parking.

As always, we could not do this without your help.

Day 2

Day 3

The strike has ended, and we are back in school!  Thank you, everyone, for your support!

ETAWC Message

  • Our goal is to maintain working conditions that will attract and retain high quality teachers in District #33.
  • We have never asked for or expected big raises.  All we seek is fairness.
  • The teachers have compromised in every aspect of the contract in attempts to meet the board's interests.  We have offered concession after concession after concession - in salary, insurance and retirement.  But the board refuses to budge.
  • We have offered compromise after compromise after compromise.  But the board demands even deeper and harsher cuts.
  • Even as we offered to accept the identical insurance as administrators in the district, the board said "No.  You must cut deeper and accept even less."
  • The board's threat to unilaterally impose its offer on the teachers is driving a hard wedge between teachers and the board.  This division threatens this school year and the quality of education in the district.
  • We don't want to strike.  But the board is forcing us to take a stand for justice and fairness.
